Whiz Kids Learning Center’s intention to be open and provide child care service every weekday of the year, excluding holidays, but that inclement weather, natural/national disaster or major building issue may disrupt service from time to time. Contact the center to ensure that it is open during inclement weather/natural disaster. In the event that the center is closed for an extended period of time, you are responsible for tuition payments for up to 3 days.
The center is closed on the following holidays: New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Last Friday in August, Labor Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, President’s Day, Thanksgiving Day, the day after Thanksgiving, Good Friday, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Years Day. There are no refunds, credits or any other allowances for holidays. If a holiday falls on a weekend, it will be observed on either the preceding Friday or the following Monday.
Please inform the center immediately if your child(ren) will be absent on any day. There are no allowances, credits refunds or make up days made for occasional absences. Your regularly contracted tuition is due for all weeks when your child attends any part of the week. If your child is absent for an entire week, you may choose to use a vacation credit. The terms of a vacation credit are as follows: After (6) continuous months of enrollment, you may elect to use one week of Vacation Credit when your child is not in attendance for an entire week, Monday through Friday. During the vacation credit week, your regular tuition charge will be reduced by 50%. There is a one (1) week maximum annual vacation credit allowance which is non-cumulative and must be taken in full week increments. There is no credit given for single days and vacation credits may not be carried over.
You must provide a two (2) week written notice of withdrawal from the program. If this notification is not provided, you must pay all tuition and fees for two (2) weeks, whether or not your child attends. When your child is withdrawn, she or he will only be eligible for re-admission based upon space availability and all other enrollment criteria. If your child is selected for re-enrollment, you will be required to pay a new non-refundable Registration Fee. If there is an outstanding balance, including tuition and fees, when your child is withdrawn, you will be required to bring your account current prior to completing a re-enrollment application. All fees are non-refundable.
You must sign your child(ren) in and out everyday at the Whiz Kids Learning Center. Your child is not permitted to sign him/herself out. You are required to enter the center to drop off and pick up your child(ren) and you must escort your child(ren) to and from the designated classroom each day. You must complete the manual sign-in/out procedures. You must have your child in school no later than 9:30am. In the event of an emergency, you must call the school to request a waiver for the day. In the event of a doctor’s appointment, you need to bring in a doctor’s note.
Your child will only be released to you, a parent or legal guardian (except where prohibited by state child care law or court order) and to those persons whose names you have listed on the Authorization for Student Pick-up form. Whiz Kids Learning Center may require, at any time and without notice, satisfactory proof of identification and a valid driver’s license from any person, including you, who proposes to pick up and transport my child(ren). For the safety and security of your child(ren), if an emergency were to arise where an unauthorized person were to pick up or drop off your child(ren), you will be provided a verification directed by the center. You will be required to follow the center’s instructions for Student Release to an Unauthorized Person policy which requires a current photo ID from the person picking up your child and the completion of a release form which you must sign upon my next arrival at the center. Whiz Kids Learning Center has the right to refuse to release a child to any person, including yourself, who fails or refuses to follow Whiz Kids Learning Center’s sign in and sign out and child release policies, or to any person who appears, in the sole discretion of Whiz Kids Learning Center, unable to safely transport my child(ren). No person under the age of 18, including family members but excluding emancipated minor parents, may pick up a child from the center. Only you can pick-up your child from his/her classroom. Authorized persons must wait at the front desk for the staff member to bring the child to them.
You are responsible for informing Whiz Kids Learning Center of any changes in your personal information or your child’s personal information including, but not limited to, address, home phone number, work phone number, cellular phone number, pager number, days and hours of work, days and hours of school, transportation arrangements, child’s medical conditions and any changes that may affect my child’s enrollment. Whiz Kids Learning Center will not be responsible for errors or claims resulting from your failure to provide current personal information.
You are required to provide and maintain at all times a minimum of two (2) additional emergency contacts other than yourself, including full names, home and phone numbers, cellular phone numbers, addresses, driver's license numbers or state identification numbers, and relationship to your child(ren). In the event of any emergency for which you cannot be reached and the emergency contacts can not be reached, the center may contact the police or other local authorities for assistance.
Whiz Kids Learning Center has an open door policy for parents and legal guardians while your child(ren) is/are in attendance. However, you would have to call in advance and state your presence/duration. Access to the center may be restricted to custodial parents pursuant to state child care regulations, or may be further restricted by court order. If for any reason it deems appropriate for the preservation of the safety, security and/or health or general well-being of the center, Whiz Kids Learning Center may temporarily or permanently exclude any person from the center, including a parent, whom Whiz Kids Learning Center finds at its sole discretion, poses or is likely to pose a risk to the center or who fails or refuses to conduct him or herself in a manner befitting a child care environment. Prohibitions include but are not limited to: profanity, yelling, threatening, aggressive or violent behavior, intoxication or failure to follow Whiz Kids Learning Center policies and procedures.
You will be notified should your child become ill during the day, and you must pick up your child promptly upon such notification. If my child is exposed to or contracts a contagious disease, you must notify the center and your child will be re-admitted according to the Whiz Kids Readmission Criteria in the Policy Agreement. Additionally, if you are notified to pick up your child due to illness, arrangements must be made within one (1) hour. Child may not come to school for 24 hours unless otherwise notified by a physician and a note will be required. Failure to comply will result in late fees.
The state care regulatory enforcement and administration agency and the local department of social services or child protective services has the authority to interview children or staff, to inspect and audit child or facility records, to interview children privately, to observe the physical condition of the children in the center, to make provisions for the independent medical examination by a licensed physician of any child, and to contact and instruct any other appropriate authority to do the same, without prior notice or consent by yourself or by Whiz Kids Learning Center.
Whiz Kids Learning Center will not be administering medication and you must administer all prescription and over-the-counter medication. If diaper cream must be administered during the day, you must fill out the Non-Prescription Medical Treatment Instruction and the Consent and Waiver form and give the diaper cream and completed forms to the appropriate management person in charge. The diaper cream must be labeled with your child’s first and last name and the form must be filled out on a weekly basis. The diaper cream and form must be given in a sealed zip lock bag. Be sure to update your child’s medical records on time and submit to your director. Children may not be admitted to school without NYS required immunization records.
Cell phones are not permitted to be used in the school at any time. I agree that I will not use or have my cell phone out at any time with on school property.
For the safety of all children food may be brought in from the outside. We have many children with severe food allergies. We must insure a safe environment and follow mandated policies for food safety. If you would like to have a birthday celebration for your child, all items must first be cleared with your child’s teacher. All of the items must be prepackaged with the ingredients label visible. We are nut free, egg free and latex free school. You are prohibited for giving your child food in the hallways or any other area of the school. Food served in a classroom, may not leave that classroom. Your child may not bring in items from the outside; they may contain small parts that are choking hazards to children. Each toy and learning material supplied by the school is safe for children in the school; we do not have this safety check for item being brought from home. Any food item or toy that is brought in to the school will be disposed of.
